FAQs
HOW OFTEN DOES HARVARD POKER CLUB MEET?
The club hosts weekly poker games on Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm throughout the semester in the Northwest Building basement (B100). Free pizza is provided at weekly games, and we offer $200 worth of cash prizes at each weekly game based on the top players and a raffle. Poker players of all levels, new and returning members, are welcome to weekly games. If you do not know how to play poker, we will teach you! Additionally, the club hosts events throughout the year, including poker tournaments, formal poker social events, guest speaker sessions, and more. Announcements about special club events are sent out in our weekly newsletter.
HOW DO I JOIN A MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME?
You can join the club by attending our weekly games and registering for our mailing list on the "Join Us" page of this website. At the end of your first weekly game, you will also be given a chance to join our club roster and gain exclusive access to our newsletter and club benefits.
DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE?
Non-members are welcome to play at our weekly games, though we highly encourage you to join the club as a member in order to receive the most up to date information regarding games, events, tournaments, and more.
DO WE PLAY FOR REAL MONEY AT HUPC GAMES?
Poker games hosted by the club are not played with real money, as Harvard Undergraduate Poker Club does not condone gambling. Upon your arrival at one of our games, we will provide you with a set number of poker chips ("$200" stack, SB 1 BB 2) . After playing, you can report your chip winnings for the evening and enter to appear on our weekly leaderboard and enter our weekly raffle. Weekly winners are grouped by level (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced), and raffles are pulled randomly from all participants. Winners earn gift cards.
